Albert Heijn, one of the most important supermarket chains in the Netherlands and Belgium and our main client, has a specific protocol for the fruit marketed in its premises, based entirely on the control of pesticides used by the producer and which are going to be supplied to this chain of supermarkets.

This is certified in conjunction with Global G.A.P as it is complemented by a strict pesticide residue sampling program both at origin and destination.


The GlobalGAP standard is a quality management system that has the purpose of agreeing on the standards and procedures for the development of good agricultural practices (Good Agricultural Practices – GAP). This certification was born in Europe in the ’90s and today it is already the most representative global standard in the industry. Its origin is in the concern of consumers and therefore of supermarkets and retailers, regarding that their products comply with food safety standards and are produced respecting the environment and workers.

All our producers are GLOBALG.A.P certified, since the basis of this audit helps us to carry out other more specific ones for each market.

Global GAP G.A.S.P.

GRASP is the abbreviation for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Pratices, which is an additional voluntary module developed by GLOBAL G.A.P. which evaluates the social practices in the farm looking at issues related to the health, safety and welfare of the workers.

Linking Environment and Farming

“LEAF – Linking Environment and Farming" was born in 1991 to promote responsible agriculture with the environment; was created to promote a better understanding of agriculture by the public, and achieves this through the LEAF Marque protocol and its demonstration farms. The standard is applicable to all sectors of agriculture and offers an extra environmental complement
to existing assurance protocols. Promotes Integrated Property Insurance, combining modern agricultural practices with the Environment. It has 9 chapters:

1.- Organization and Planning.
2.- Fertility and Soil Management.
3.- Hygiene and protection of the crop.
4.- Pollution control.
5.- Animal husbandry.
6.- Energy Efficiency
7.- Water Management.
8.- Landscape conservation.
9.- Community commitment.


This Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points system establishes in the food industry the application of a preventive control system, which ensures the sanitary quality and safety of food and beverages, based on the identification, evaluation and control of the significant hazards for
each type of product.

Rainforest Alliance

Fields that meet binding requirements and standards are recognized with the Rainforest Alliance Certified ™ seal. Since 1992, more than 400,000 small, medium, large and cooperative farms, in 35 countries of the world, have complied with SAN standards that guarantee the protection of workers and wildlife, the conservation of natural resources and support the financial viability of the farms.


SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) is an independent verifier (not a certification) with a focus on the ethical work guidelines contained in the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) code. The verification is carried out by auditing companies that, through the SMETA protocol, independently evaluate the behavior of each company and make the result of these evaluations available to customers
through SEDEX-, in this way customers can monitor the ethical performance of our plants and the
packings of producers that have joined SEDEX.

Walmart Global Security Operations

All suppliers to Walmart and its facilities (Packing and Refrigerators) must comply with high standards and safety procedures to protect the final product. This is to ensure that throughout the production chain (packaging, cold and dispatch) it has been impossible to introduce cargo not manifested as illegal drugs, explosives, weapons and even people.


Global Standard for Food Safety – BRC is at the moment a fundamental requirement of many of the leading supermarkets in the UK, and for foodservice companies, as well as food buyers globally.

Developed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), this standard is designed to assess the ability of a food processor to meet Food Safety requirements and demonstrate due diligence.

The main requirements of this standard are to adopt HACCP or HACCP, a documented quality system and the control of environmental standards, product, process, and personnel.

Recycling Plan

Santa Elena currently has a Green Point, which is a special space that allows the temporary deposit of recyclable waste, which is then sent to different recycling centers.

As a company we care about recycling, since with this we allow the creation of new products, we reduce pollution and we help to combat climate change.
